The typhoon, which struck the northern region of the nation between September 7 and 9, inflicted significant damage on multiple provinces, according to the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority.
A news report on Nguoi Lao Dong news site said 49 people were killed and 22 others missing during and after the typhoon made landfall on September 7.
Quang Ninh Province reported nine deaths. In Lao Cai, 18 people died due primarily to landslides, and six persons are still missing.
Cao Bang Province reported eight were killed and 13 others remain missing due to landslides, excluding 16 passengers on a bus that was swept away by floodwaters.
Other affected provinces, including Bac Giang, Tuyen Quang, and Ha Giang, are still searching for missing individuals.

Although Typhoon Yagi has been downgraded to a tropical depression, risks of flash floods and landslides remain, with heavy rains expected to continue in the northern region over the coming days.
