HCMC – More than 85,000 officials and employees in Vietnam’s political system and armed forces have left their jobs under a restructuring policy, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
As of July 15, some 85,447 people had resigned under the support policy outlined in Decrees 178/2024 and 67/2025, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
Of the total, funding for 74,248 cases has been submitted or approved. So far, 41,031 people, or 76.22% of the approved cases, have received financial support.
The downsizing policy is part of a broader effort to streamline the administrative apparatus and enhance the quality of public sector personnel. The Ministry had earlier proposed Decree 178/2024, which sets out support mechanisms for individuals affected by restructuring within the political system.
Later, Decree 67/2025 was issued to revise and supplement several provisions of Decree 178/2024, further clarifying the support framework.
To ensure consistency in implementation nationwide, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued two guiding circulars including Circular 01/2025 and Circular 002/2025 and dispatched official documents No. 1814 and No. 2034 to relevant ministries and provincial governments.
