The ministry also reported 76 new Covid fatalities, including 15 in Binh Duong, eight in Long An, seven each in An Giang and Dong Nai, six each in Tien Giang and Can Tho, five each in Tay Ninh and Kien Giang, four each in Soc Trang and Bac Lieu, three in Binh Thuan, two each in Dong Thap and Vinh Long and one each in Quang Ngai and Ca Mau. In related news, several provinces, including Tay Ninh, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Bac Lieu and Vinh Long, have decided to tighten anti-Covid measures due to a surge in new infections.

The Tay Ninh government asks bars, karaoke and massage parlors and Internet and game shops to temporarily close down from November 22, while restaurants and eateries must not serve more than 20 persons at the same time nor offer alcoholic drinks, and must ensure a physical distance of at least 1.5 meters between tables.

Elsewhere, Lam Dong Province requires people returning from Covid-hit areas to show a negative Covid test result given within 72 hours, starting from today. The move was made after the province detected several Covid cases linked to those who arrived in the province from Covid-hit areas.

In another development, Binh Thuan Province suspended non-essential services and activities and asked residents to avoid stepping out from 7.00 p.m. to 5.00 a.m to slow the spread of Covid, while eateries and restaurants were ordered to offer takeaway services only.

In the Mekong Delta region, Bac Lieu Province banned gatherings of over 10 persons and suspended the operation of nightclubs, bars, beauty centers, spas, hair salons, karaoke parlors and game shops.

Meanwhile, the Vinh Long government ordered eateries and restaurants to only offer takeaway services.
