HCMC – The Prime Minister has approved a VND2,227-billion budget for a 220kV power transmission line linking the 500kV Long Thanh substation in Dong Nai Province and the 220kV Saigon Hi-Tech Park substation in Thu Duc City, HCMC.

The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has been designated as the project’s investor.

The project aims to maximize the capacity of the 500kV Long Thanh substation, facilitate the output of the Nhon Trach 3 thermal power plant, and enhance electricity supply to HCMC via the Saigon Hi-Tech Park 220kV substation.

The development will involve a combination of overhead and underground transmission lines, spanning a total length of 21.3 kilometers.

The line will traverse Long Thanh District and Bien Hoa City in Dong Nai Province, as well as Thu Duc City in HCMC. The project is slated for completion and operation by 2027.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment has been tasked with reviewing the investment policy for the project under the provisions of the Investment Law.

Other relevant ministries and agencies will assess the project’s investment policy based on their specific roles and responsibilities, in accordance with applicable regulations.
