HCMC – The 14th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee began in Hanoi this morning, November 5, focusing on preparations for the upcoming 14th National Party Congress and the strengthening of the Party and political system.

The plenum takes place as the entire Party, people, and armed forces work to complete the goals and tasks of the 2020-2025 term and finalize preparations for the next National Congress of the Party Central Committee – a key event that will outline Vietnam’s development directions and leadership for the coming period.

During the session, the Party Central Committee will discuss major issues related to the organization of the 14th National Congress, as well as matters concerning Party building and the enhancement of the political system.

In his opening speech, Party General Secretary To Lam emphasised: “Despite a short period of time and a heavy workload, this is a critical moment when we must make extra efforts, make the most of our time, and work with a spirit of overcoming challenges, surpassing ourselves with strategic thinking and drastic action for the national interest, the benefit of the people, and the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam.”

He called on participants to demonstrate responsibility before the Party and the people, promote collective wisdom, engage in constructive discussions, and make firm decisions in the best interests of the nation.

The plenum is scheduled to last until November 6.
