HCMC – Party General Secretary To Lam has called for an inspection of the construction of the second campuses of Bach Mai and Viet Duc University hospitals in Ha Nam Province, with an inspection conclusion to be made available before March 31, 2025.

Dang Van Dung, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs, said on December 31 that Party General Secretary To Lam had ordered an inspection of the second campuses of Bach Mai and Viet Duc University hospitals in the northern province.

The inspection’s conclusion must be completed before March 31, 2025. Subsequently, immediate measures must be taken to put the two hospitals into operation, with no further delays allowed, he said.

Work began on the second campuses of Bach Mai and Viet Duc University hospitals in Phu Ly City, Ha Nam at the end of 2014, with the expectation that they would become the largest and most modern hospitals ever built in Vietnam.

The outpatient clinics of both facilities were officially inaugurated in October 2018.

However, only Bach Mai Hospital’s clinic operated briefly from March 2019 to March 2020 before announcing a temporary suspension. Meanwhile, Viet Duc University Hospital’s second facility has remained inactive.

Each hospital is designed with a capacity of 1,000 beds and a floor area of 100,000 square meters. The total investment cost of each hospital is nearly VND5 trillion.

Regarding the results of anti-wastefulness efforts, Dung said that the Party and State have implemented many policies, but it must be acknowledged that these efforts have not received the proper attention in recent times.

As a result, Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized that anti-wastefulness efforts should be given the same priority as the fight against corruption and negative practices.

He stressed the need to focus on three key areas in tackling waste: land management, the environment and mineral resources, and finance, budgeting, public investment, and foreign investment.
