HCMC – The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on January 22 approved the size of the 14th Party Central Committee, setting it at 180 official members and 20 alternate members.

The decision was made during a full-day session focused on personnel matters at the ongoing Congress.

The meeting was chaired by Party General Secretary To Lam, who is also president of the Presidium.

On behalf of the Presidium, Le Minh Hung, Politburo member and chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, presented a report from the 13th Party Central Committee on personnel preparations for the new Party Central Committee.

Delegates discussed the personnel report within their delegations. They reviewed nominations and self-nominations and examined candidate profiles and documents. Heads of delegations later reported the discussion results to the Presidium.

Based on these reports, the Presidium submitted a list of candidates to the Congress. Delegates approved the list, elected a Vote Counting Committee, and proceeded with voting.

The Congress conducted ballot casting, vote counting, announcement of results, and approval of the list of members of the 14th Party Central Committee.

On January 23, the Congress will recess in the morning while the newly elected Party Central Committee holds its first plenary session. The Congress is scheduled to convene its closing session in the afternoon.
