HCMC – An interprovincial passenger bus carrying 36 people plunged into a ravine on Bao Loc Pass on the afternoon of March 30, with one reported dead and three others seriously injured, said local authorities.
As of late Sunday night, rescue forces in Lam Dong Province were still working to retrieve the bus with the license plate 50H-32365.
The crash killed a 26-year-old woman from Dong Xoai City, Binh Phuoc Province. Two children suffered broken arms, and a 24-year-old man from Dong Xoai sustained a back injury.
Initial investigations showed that the accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. while the bus was traveling from Dalat City to HCMC. While descending the pass, the bus rear-ended a truck bearing the license plate 60H-153.46.
The impact sent the bus careening off the road and into a 20-meter-deep ravine.
Authorities suspect that the bus driver lost control due to possible brake failure before the collision.
The case is under investigation.
