HCMC – The Airports Corporation of Vietnam, or ACV, officially put the new terminal at the Phu Bai International Airport in Thua Thien-Hue Province into operation today, April 28, to serve the rising travel demand during the upcoming holiday.
All flights from Terminal 1 have been transferred to the new Terminal 2 at the Phu Bai International Airport in the central province.
ACV started work on Terminal T2 in August 2021 with a total investment of nearly VND2.3 trillion.
The terminal has a floor area of around 22,380 square meters and is expected to serve five million passengers annually, including four million domestic and one million international passengers.
Terminal 2 at the Phu Bai International Airport is the first terminal of ACV to apply digital transformation and be equipped with self-check-in kiosks, self-baggage drop systems and an automatic broadcasting system that applies AI to search for passenger names.
This terminal is also equipped with biometric authentication technology that uses electronic chip-embedded identification cards for facial recognition, an automatic security control system, and an automatic boarding control system.
Phu Bai International Airport currently serves 15 to 17 domestic flights per day.
