HCMC HCMC has approved a plan to renovate and rebuild old apartment buildings, focusing on those built before 1975, reported the local media.

The city currently has 474 apartment buildings constructed before 1975, including 16 classified as grade-D structures, meaning they are structurally unsafe. Many of these buildings have deteriorated due to unauthorized modifications and a lack of maintenance.

Authorities aim to complete preparation work for redevelopment by 2030. This includes rebuilding pre-1975 apartments and upgrading grade-B and grade-C buildings from the same period. The plan also covers basic repairs for structures built between 1975 and 1994.

By 2035, the city expects to have fully rebuilt all pre-1975 apartment buildings and renovated the most severely damaged structures from the 1975-1994 period.

To facilitate the process, public awareness campaigns and relocation programs will be launched to encourage resident cooperation. Authorities seek to ensure that households move out of unsafe buildings so redevelopment efforts can move forward.
