HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed HCMC and relevant central agencies to resolve issues delaying a VND10-trillion flood control project and submit a report by Friday, December 20.
The Government Office has instructed the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the State Bank of Vietnam, and HCMC authorities to address bottlenecks hindering the project’s progress. This comes after city leaders raised concerns about significant delays.
HCMC authorities have been asked to collaborate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to map out a solution. For unresolved issues beyond the city’s jurisdiction, national-level coordination will be required, according to the directive.
HCMC Chairman Phan Van Mai stated that the project could be completed by 2025 if obstacles are resolved this month. During a municipal council meeting on December 10, Mai proposed adjusting investment policy, including the use of land to pay the investor.
The prime minister underscored the importance of avoiding further delays and resource wastage, emphasizing that the anti-flood project is critical for HCMC.
