HCMC – The inauguration ceremony of the 500kV circuit-3 power transmission line from Quang Binh to Hung Yen provinces took place this morning, August 29, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in attendance.
The event was held in a hybrid format, with the main location at the 500kV Pho Noi substation in Hung Yen Province and eight other locations across the provinces where the power line passes through.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was present at the main venue in Hung Yen and gave a speech at the inauguration ceremony.
The 519-kilometer 500kV circuit-3 transmission line between Quang Trach in Quang Binh and Pho Noi in Hung Yen cost over VND22.3 trillion, equivalent to nearly US$1 billion.
This important project aims to increase power transmission capacity from 2,500 MW to 5,000 MW between the central and northern regions. It seeks to improve system stability, enhance electricity supply to northern Vietnam by 2025, and reduce overload risks on existing 500kV lines and substations.
With the completion of the Quang Trach-Pho Noi power transmission line, Vietnam now has four 500kV power transmission lines between the north and the south of the country. This is crucial for maintaining energy security and supporting the country’s economic growth, social development, and national defense.
