HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking delegation left Hanoi early this morning for a nine-day three-nation Europe tour.

The trip, scheduled for June 5 to 14, is made at the invitation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

During the trip, PM Chinh will attend the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in France, which focuses on supporting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 on ocean conservation. This will mark the first time a Vietnamese prime minister participates in a UNOC.

The visit also marks Chinh’s first trip to France since Vietnam and France upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in October 2024. It follows French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Vietnam in May 2025.

This will be the first official visit to Estonia by a Vietnamese prime minister since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992, and the first prime ministerial visit to Sweden in seven years.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said the trip underscores Vietnam’s message of peace, stability, cooperation, and development, and creates an opportunity to strengthen ties with key European partners and deepen bilateral relations.

The tour also offers Vietnam a chance to convey to the international community its determination and aspirations for development, while mobilizing international resources to support the country’s development goals in the new era.
