HCMC – The prime minister has directed ministries, agencies, and local governments to accelerate the implementation of key traffic infrastructure projects across the country.

The Government Office recently issued a notice outlining Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s conclusions as head of the Steering Committee during the 16th meeting on national key projects and major traffic infrastructure initiatives.

PM Chinh emphasized that completing 3,000 kilometers of expressway and 1,000 kilometers of coastal road by 2025 is a top national priority in celebration of Vietnam’s major national events.

“With less than 10 months left until December 31, 2025, a significant workload remains,” he said, calling for a rigorous review and acceleration of critical projects to meet deadlines.

The Ministry of Finance has been instructed to review and propose amendments to investment and bidding laws to streamline procedures, expedite project execution, and support economic growth. The ministry must report to the Government in March and submit proposals to the National Assembly in April.

For railway projects, HCMC has been tasked with conducting feasibility studies for urban rail links to Can Gio and Long Thanh International Airport. The city is also seeking investors and contractors and will report its progress to the Prime Minister in April.

Provinces along the North-South high-speed railway and the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong railway route must coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to speed up land clearance and approve resettlement plans, ensuring project progress remains aligned with legislative investment policies.

The Ninh Binh-Haiphong Expressway project is set to begin construction in April, while component project 3 of Beltway No.4 is scheduled to start in May, with Thai Binh and Hanoi instructed to finalize investor selection.

For the HCMC-Moc Bai Expressway, HCMC and Tay Ninh have been asked to complete the feasibility study approval by March. Meanwhile, Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong must fast-track preparations to launch construction of the Gia Nghia-Chon Thanh project by April 30.

Lam Dong has been directed to urgently approve feasibility study reports for the Tan Phu-Bao Loc and Bao Loc-Lien Khuong projects, ensuring completion by March 25.
