HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has been appointed head of a national committee overseeing the development of nuclear power projects, including the revival of two plants in the former province of Ninh Thuan (now part of Khanh Hoa Province).

The appointment was confirmed in a Government decision issued on August 6. Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son will serve as standing deputy head, and Industry and Trade Minister Nguyen Hong Dien has been named deputy head, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The committee will coordinate investment planning for the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project. It will monitor progress, propose regulatory updates, and develop a national nuclear energy strategy for approval.

It will also manage international cooperation on nuclear power, including with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The committee is required to provide regular reports to the prime minister.
