HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested that the Can Tho–Ca Mau Expressway be completed no later than December 19 this year to mark the anniversary of National Resistance Day.

He conducted a field inspection of the Can Tho–Ca Mau expressway project on April 20, marking his eighth visit to the project.

The 110-kilometer expressway links Can Tho City with the provinces of Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang, and Ca Mau. It has four lanes and a total investment of VND27.5 trillion.

The project is divided into two sections: Can Tho–Hau Giang and Hau Giang–Ca Mau, with My Thuan Project Management Board serving as the investor. It comprises four packages, commenced in early 2023, and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

As of now, local authorities have handed over the entire necessary land area for the 110-kilometer main route for construction, with only a minor land clearance issue remaining at the rest stop area in Kien Giang Province.

The project has reached 66% of its construction volume, which is 4% behind schedule.

As of now, local authorities have handed over all the required land for the 110-kilometer main route, with only a minor land clearance issue remaining at a planned rest stop in Kien Giang Province.

Following the site inspection, PM Chinh chaired a meeting with relevant ministries, agencies, and the Ca Mau’s government to discuss the implementation of the Can Tho–Ca Mau expressway and other key transport projects in the province.

He requested that the expressway be completed no later than December 19 this year to commemorate National Resistance Day, urging local authorities to ensure a sufficient supply of construction materials to avoid any delays.

For Ca Mau Province, the prime minister also emphasized the need to expand Ca Mau Airport, develop Hon Khoai Port, and build the Ca Mau–Dat Mui expressway. He called on the province to coordinate with ministries and central agencies to implement key infrastructure projects that enhance provincial connectivity both regionally and internationally.
