HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered relevant ministries and agencies to ensure no fuel shortages under any circumstances and to consider allocating State funds to stabilize fuel prices if needed.

At a meeting on solutions to ensure fuel supply and stabilize prices on March 16, the PM requested firm measures to prevent shortages, while maintaining market-based pricing under State regulation and applying flexible stabilization measures to balance the interests of the State, businesses and consumers.

Chinh instructed relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, to conduct inspections and strictly handle violations such as hoarding, price manipulation and policy abuse.

He also ordered a review and reduction of taxes, fees and charges related to fuel, with proposals to be submitted before March 20.

If the Middle East conflict continues, ministries would need to propose budget allocations to support fuel prices in order to minimize impacts on production, business and people’s livelihoods.

Relevant ministries were told to coordinate closely in implementing fuel management and price stabilization measures. Government members were urged to provide feedback on a draft resolution amending Resolution 36 on fuel management for early issuance.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc was assigned to oversee tax and fee policies, while Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son was tasked with directing market stabilization measures under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
