HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged the relevant authorities to expedite site clearance to shorten the construction of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge by six months.
During his visit to the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction site in Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province, this morning, February 15, Chinh called for contractors to mobilize human resources, vehicles and equipment to complete construction work in October next year, or six months ahead of schedule.
Ben Tre and Tien Giang provinces need to promptly hand over cleared land to the contractors to commence work and stabilize residents’ lives, he said.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge across the Tien River will connect Tien Giang and Ben Tre. It got off the ground on March 2022 and is scheduled for completion in three years’ time. The VND5,200 billion project is four kilometers away from the existing bridge and is expected to relieve traffic pressure on National Highway 60.
The bridge and its access roads will have a total length of 17.6 kilometers.
