HCMC – The police have detained 200 individuals involved in a case in which four Vietnamese flight attendants were found in mid-March carrying from Paris to HCMC 11.2 kg of illicit drugs hidden in 327 toothpaste tubes and 17 mouthwash bottles.
Speaking at a Government press conference today, June 3, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), said the investigation of the case is still ongoing and that drug smuggling by air remains a complicated issue.
So far this year, the police have filed charges against more than 13,000 drug cases with over 20,000 individuals involved, Xo said, adding more than 14,200 kg of heroin, 4,023 kg of methamphetamine, 928,000 ecstasy pills and 210 kg of cannabis have been seized.
