HCMC – The Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee today, September 6, discussed a draft report reviewing the first five years of Vietnam’s socio-economic development strategy for 2021-2030 and chart a course for the remaining years of the plan.
The meeting, presided over by Party General Secretary and President To Lam, took place at the Party Central Committee headquarters in Hanoi.
The draft report acknowledged the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions, which have profoundly impacted Vietnam’s economy.
Despite these hurdles, the country has emerged as a newly industrialized country, rising above the lower middle-income bracket with a growing human development index (HDI).
Party General Secretary and President To Lam underscored the need to further refine the country’s socialist-oriented market economy model, foster innovation and digital transformation, and enhance infrastructure development.
He called for concerted efforts to improve education, protect the environment, and strengthen national defense.
The Politburo tasked the relevant agencies with finalizing the draft report for presentation at the upcoming 10th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee.
