Politburo urges completion of provincial mergers by mid-August

The Saigon Times

Must read

HCMC – The Politburo has called for provincial mergers to be completed by August 15, and for new commune-level units to begin operating by July 1 and be fully in place by July 15.

On the behalf of the Politburo, Tran Cam Tu, permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat, signed Conclusion No. 157 on May 25, outlining the implementation of resolutions on restructuring organizational and administrative units.

Accordingly, new commune-level units must begin operations by July 1, with the process to be completed by July 15. Provincial-level mergers should be finalized by August 15.

The Politburo also banned any interference in personnel arrangements and called for strict action against violations.

The Government Party Committee has been assigned to lead and direct the continued review and timely issuance of guidance on tasks to be carried out or transitioned during the restructuring of provincial- and commune-level administrative units, and the dissolution of district-level administrations.

The Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, in coordination with relevant agencies and the provincial and municipal Party committees involved in mergers, has been tasked with finalizing personnel plans for provincial-level Party committees and submitting them to the Politburo and the Party Secretariat for consideration and decision by June 20, with efforts to complete by June 15.

It is also responsible for working with the local Party committees to finalize plans to dissolve the existing provincial and municipal Party organizations and establish new ones following the mergers.
