Must read

HCMC – Until now, investigators of the HCMC Police Department have detained Tat Thanh Cang, former standing deputy secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Te Tri Dung and 17 other accomplices to serve an investigation, a police officer told a press briefing held today, December 21.

Most of the detainees held key positions at the Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Company Limited (IPC) and the South Saigon Development Corporation (SADECO), said Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Pham Van Thanh, head of the department’s Economic Police Division, at the meeting.

After receiving the HCMC Inspectorate’s inspection results and proposal to press charges against a case, of which nine million SADECO shares had been sold to Nguyen Kim Company without undergoing any bidding process as per regulations, the municipal police coordinated with the HCMC People’s Court and the HCMC People’s Procuracy to assess evidence and identify the roles and responsibilities of each individual involved, Thanh said.

The police collected sufficient evidence showing that these 19 individuals had committed violations and suggested criminal charges against them to the higher authorities.

The police then issued decisions to prosecute these 19 people for their involvement in the case, in line with prevailing regulations, after being allowed by the higher authorities to do so.

The investigation into this case followed the directions of the Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, who demanded that all violators be tackled seriously in accordance with the law, the official added.
