Qorvo, Cadence support Vietnam in semiconductor workforce training

Must read

HCMC – Two American semiconductor companies, Qorvo and Cadence, have pledged to support Vietnam in training high-skilled professionals, lecturers and students in the semiconductor industry.

This initiative is part of a program launched by Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the National Innovation Center (NIC), in collaboration with Qorvo and Cadence, to develop the semiconductor industry workforce by 2030, with a vision to 2050, according to the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).

The recent agreement outlines that both companies will send their experts and lecturers to assist in Vietnam’s training program. Cadence will provide software licenses for chip design, which will be used during the three-month training period at NIC.

A representative from the MPI emphasized Vietnam’s advantageous conditions for developing its semiconductor industry, such as its strategic geographical location, a tech-savvy young workforce, advanced digital infrastructure developed in recent years, and a favorable investment environment.

Such conditions help attract investment, promote innovation, and position Vietnam as a leading center for semiconductor production and design in the region and the world.

On the same day, the MPI met with the chairman of Qorvo to discuss ways to increase investment and cooperation to further develop Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.

The MPI asked Qorvo and other industry partners to grow their businesses in Vietnam. They also asked Qorvo to use services and products from Vietnamese companies and to consider setting up offices and R&D centers in Vietnam, especially within NIC facilities.
