HCMC – Phan Viet Cuong, the 60-year-old secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, will retire from January 1, 2024, six months ahead of his scheduled retirement, for health reasons.
Cuong said at a meeting this morning, December 29, that his resignation letter had been approved by the Politburo. He will leave office from January 1, 2024. His official retirement date is set for July 1, 2024.
He is holding the positions of chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Council, member of the Party Central Committee, and secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee.
Previously, the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission determined that the Quang Nam People’s Committee, as well as several organizations and individuals, including Cuong, had violated regulations related to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the arrangements of repatriation flights.
The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission proposed that the Politburo review and take disciplinary measures against Cuong, some organizations and individuals in Quang Nam for their wrongdoing.
