HCMC – The northern province of Quang Ninh has commenced work on four major projects whose combined investment is around VND283 trillion, or some US$12 billion.

The four projects are the Green Halong urban area complex, the Dong Trieu golf course, the Quang Ninh liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant, and the first phase of the Van Ninh general port.

The Green Halong urban area complex project requires over VND232 trillion, developed by Vietnam’s major conglomerate Vingroup and its property arm, Vinhomes JSC. The complex will cover over 4,100 hectares of land in Quang Yen Town and Ha Long City. The project, adjacent to the Haiphong-Halong-Van Don expressway, is expected to promote growth, especially in the province’s tourism sector.

The Dong Trieu Golf Course project, whose investor is Silk Path Hotel JSC, covers nearly 130 hectares in An Sinh Commune, Dong Trieu District. It will be developed as an international-standard 27-hole golf course and will be able to serve some 800 guests a day.

As for the Quang Ninh LNG power plant project, it covers nearly 60 hectares in Cam Thinh Ward of Cam Pha City, with a total investment of some VND47 trillion. Once it is put into operation, the project would supply around nine billion kWh of electricity per year to the national grid and contribute some VND57 trillion to the provincial budget in 25 years.

The first phase of the Van Ninh general port project will be built in Van Ninh Commune of Mong Cai City. It covers over 82 hectares and requires some VND2.2 trillion investment from the Van Ninh International Port JSC.

It is expected to become a sea freight import-export hub for cities and provinces nationwide and the ASEAN region.
