HCMC – Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, linking the Mekong Delta provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre, is on track for completion ahead of schedule, with full construction expected to be finished by October 30, according to the My Thuan Project Management Board.

The bridge is planned to open for technical traffic on September 2. Currently, the project is 79% complete, surpassing its scheduled progress by 4%, with the main structure advancing over 24% ahead of schedule.

Spanning 16.7 kilometers, the project will connect the Dong Tam intersection in Tien Giang Province to National Highway 60 in Ben Tre City. It has a total investment of over VND6.81 trillion.

Construction is making rapid progress across multiple areas. The side spans are expected to be joined by April, while the central spans are slated for completion in August. Roadwork and bridge components on the Ben Tre side are projected to be finished by June 30, 2025.

Crews are currently working on a 14-kilometer road section, with foundation stabilization complete and preload materials removed on 10 kilometers. Approximately nine kilometers of the aggregate base layers have been completed, and two kilometers have already been paved with asphalt.

Four smaller bridges, including My Tho and Ba Lai, have been completed. The main bridge and the Ma River Bridge remain under construction, with the latter expected to be finished by mid-2025.

The project has fully disbursed its allocated 2024 budget of VND900 billion, meeting 100% of the year’s funding targets. For 2025, 36% of the planned capital has already been spent.

Land clearance has been finalized along the entire route, with 9.65 kilometers in Ben Tre and 7.95 kilometers in Tien Giang handed over to contractors.
