HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged the Red River Delta region to achieve double-digit economic growth, emphasizing its critical role in supporting Vietnam’s broader development goals.
Speaking at the fifth meeting of the Coordinating Council for the Red River Delta on January 14 in Hanoi, Chinh called on local authorities to implement plans for rapid and sustainable growth. The council reviewed its 2024 activities and set key objectives for 2025.
The Red River Delta must lead with double-digit growth to propel the nation’s progress into a new era, Chinh said, referencing Party General Secretary To Lam’s national targets. He underscored the urgency of this goal, linking it to Vietnam’s centennial ambitions for 2030 and 2045, and called for strong commitment, targeted solutions, and coordinated efforts to achieve measurable results.
Chinh emphasized the need to tackle obstacles and fully leverage the region’s advantages. “This region must lead with determination, focus, and effective coordination,” he said, urging actionable plans to accelerate growth in 2025, a year seen as pivotal for national progress.
The PM also noted that Vietnam’s per capita income remains significantly lower than that of developed nations, calling for policies to bridge the income gap while aligning with long-term development goals.
As part of the discussions, he stressed the importance of adhering to Hanoi’s newly approved master plan. He highlighted the need to optimize land, sea, and underground spaces to enhance development across the region.
