HCMC – Police and military forces are searching for those people missing in the collapse of Phong Chau bridge in Phu Tho Province as the Red River’s water levels are receding.
The search began today, September 14, in the area of Phong Chau bridge in Tam Nong District. About 50 police and military officers, motor boats and other equipment have been mobilized for the search.
Phong Chau bridge collapsed on September 9, causing three autos, six motorbikes and one electric vehicle to fall into the river. Three individuals were rescued, while eight persons are still missing.
High water levels and strong currents of the Red River, triggered by heavy rain following typhoon Yagi’s landfall, made the search for the missing impossible.
