SAB to pay 20% cash dividend

HCMC – Saigon Beer – Alcohol – Beverage Corporation, which has its SAB shares listed on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE), has announced a 20% cash dividend for 2024.

SAB shareholders will receive VND2,000 for every share held. The list of shareholders eligible for the dividend will be finalized on December 27, with payment scheduled for January 23, 2025. The dividend payout is expected to total VND2.57 trillion.

Vietnam Soft Drink Company, SAB’s largest shareholder with a 54% stake, will receive an estimated VND1.38 trillion. The State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), holding 36% of shares, is expected to receive nearly VND940 billion.

The company said it aims to maintain strong financial performance and capitalize on the recovery of the domestic and international markets. Sabeco has focused on product diversification and brand development to attract younger consumers, particularly in urban areas.

Closing the trading session today, December 27, SAB edged up 0.18% to VND55,800, with a matching volume of 632,700 shares.

With 177 winners and 242 losers, the benchmark VN-Index added 2.27 points, or 0.18%, to 1,275.14 points on Friday, driven by gains in bank stocks.

The session saw a trading volume of 670.3 million shares worth VND16.86 trillion, up 12.6% in volume and nearly 23% in value over the previous session. Block deals accounted for 80.3 million shares valued at VND3.19 trillion, including 15 million MSN shares of Masan Group Corporation worth VND1.06 trillion.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the 30 largest-cap stocks, gained over 4.16 points, or 0.31%, to 1,346.84 points. The VN30 basket saw 13 bluechips rising, nine of which were bank stocks.

HDB rose the highest at 3.3%, closing at VND24,950. CTG and VIB each rose more than 1.5%.

LPB was the session’s top performer, climbing to the ceiling price of VND31,000 per share. LPB’s trading volume exceeded 9.36 million shares, over five times its 10-day average and its highest in 2.5 months. The stock contributed more than 1.3 points to the VN-Index.

Other actively traded bank stocks included TPB and VIB, with volumes of 27.8 million and 22.85 million shares, respectively. Both stocks posted gains, with TPB up 1.2% and VIB increasing 1.5%.

Securities stocks saw mild gains, with SSI topping the sector at 16.35 million shares traded, closing 0.9% higher at VND26,600. Steel stocks edged lower, with HPG falling 0.6%, despite leading the sector in trading volume at 11.4 million shares. Telecom stocks underperformed, with VGI dropping 4.15% and VTK down 3.52%.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index dipped 0.77 points, or 0.33%, to 229.13 points, with 60 stocks gaining and 98 others declining. Trading volume reached 46.74 million shares valued at VND832.1 billion.
