Sacombank mulls investing in Bamboo Airways

HCMC – Sacombank, which trades its STB shares on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, is seeking approval to invest in Bamboo Airways.

Sacombank has shown keen interest in Bamboo Airways’ restructuring, Phan Dinh Tue, a board member of Bamboo Airways, said at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders this morning, September 15.

Currently, the bank is in the process of completing necessary procedures and seeking approval from the relevant authorities to proceed with the investment.

At the its general meeting of shareholders this morning, Bamboo Airways also announced changes to its board of directors (BOD).

Three BOD members – Hideki Oshima, Doan Huu Doan, and Tran Hoa Binh – stepped down, while Le Thi Truc Quynh, deputy general director of the airlines, was elected to the BOD in the 2023-2028 term.

The BOD of this airline now has five members – Le Thai Sam, Nguyen Ngoc Trong, Phan Dinh Tue, Le Ba Nguyen, and Le Thi Truc Quynh.

Regarding the stock market, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange added 3.55 points, or 0.29%, from the session earlier, at 1,227.36 points, with 253 gainers and 247 decliners.

The trade volume totaled over 917.36 million shares worth VND21.6 trillion. Of the total, 49.3 million shares valued at VND1.43 trillion were traded in block deals.

GAS stole the spotlight as it continued to extend its winning streak to the fourth consecutive day, setting a new high for the year by at VND109,600 per share.

VIX took the lead by liquidity in the market with nearly 34.4 million shares transacted today. At the close, the stock increased by 1.55% versus the previous session to VND19,600 per share.

Bank stocks made a positive contribution to the turnaround in the market. Notably, lender VCB rose by 0.8% and reached its daily high of VND89,800, while STB stock surged by 2.2% to VND32,500, with over 34 million shares changing hands.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index added 0.9 points, or 0.36%, at 252.76 points. Around 82.2 million shares worth over VND1.8 trillion were transacted.
