HCMC – The Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) has generated over US$10 billion from foreign direct investment (FDI), rising further to US$12 billion, including domestic investment.
SHTP recently recorded a large turnover in high-tech products and services, accounting for over 50% of the export turnover of HCMC, Nguyen Anh Thi, head of the SHTP Management Board, said at SHTP’s 20 years of formation and development conference on September 9.
The company has mobilized over US$10 billion from 51 FDI projects, with an average of US$198 million for each. At the same time, SHTP also brought in US$1.929 billion from 110 domestic investments, with an average of US$17.7 million per project.
The company has now settled employment for roughly 52,000 people, including 570 foreign labor.
Specifically, the turnover of the company more than doubled that of HCMC with US$20.9 billion, 52% of the total export turnover in 2021.
As of June 2022, SHTP saw more than VND10 trillion in investment sourced from the State budget.
Among them, over VND1,9 billion is backed by the central budget and VND8,024 billion is funded by the municipal budget.
SHTP is now focusing on training high-tech manpower and fostering talent, attracting a series of leading technology companies, such as Intel, Jabi (the U.S.), Samsung (Korea), Nidec, Nipro, NTT (Japan) and Datalogic (Italia).
