HCMC – The “Saigon Times – Great Circle – Helping Students Get Back to School Post Storm” program held an event on September 19 to express gratitude to individuals and organizations for their generous donations to students and schools in northern Vietnam impacted by typhoon Yagi.
The program has received over VND600 million in cash donations, along with essential goods valued at more than VND2 billion, according to Nguyen Thi Kim Tieng, head of the organizing committee and permanent vice chairwoman of the 2030 Business Club under the Saigon Times Club.
Notable corporate donors include Duy Tan Plastic Recycling Company, which contributed VND50 million, and Van Thien Sa JSC (EDENA), which donated 155 cotton blankets worth nearly VND225 million.
Other donors include Hoang Phuc Agricultural Investments Company, which gave 6,500 notebooks valued at VND45.5 million.
The program, launched by the Saigon Times Group in partnership with the 2030 Business Club, the Saigon Times Market & Real Estate Club (SMRC), and the Branding Club, aims to bring students back to school and support the recovery of storm-damaged schools.
Donations will be distributed to six schools in Yen Bai Province and three schools in Tuyen Quang Province from September 21 to 23.
Organizers will visit the schools to distribute gifts, including cash and essential supplies for students, and assess the damage to provide funding for necessary repairs, teaching materials, and furniture.
Donations are still being accepted to further support recovery efforts.
