HCMC – The “Saigon Times – Helping Students Get Back to School Post Storm” program has reached out to several schools in the northern provinces of Yen Bai and Tuyen Quang to assess the impact of typhoon Yagi on students and schools.

The goal is to assess the needs of these communities to provide timely support, ensuring students will be able to resume schooling at the start of the new school year.

This initiative is part of the “Saigon Times – Great Circle – Helping Students Get Back to School Post Storm” program, launched by the Saigon Times Group in collaboration with the 2030 Businessmen Club, the Saigon Times Market & Real Estate Club (SMRC), and the Branding Club under the Saigon Times Club.

From September 21 to 23, the organizing committee will visit five schools in Yen Bai and three schools in Tuyen Quang, distributing gifts and financial aid to needy students and schools, with a total budget of VND500 million.

Typhoon Yagi, the third storm to hit Vietnam this year, wreaked havoc on the northern region, with flash floods and landslides claiming hundreds of lives, destroying thousands of homes, and disrupting livelihoods. Many children have been unable to attend school due to the devastation.

In response, the Saigon Times Group is calling for businesses, individuals and benefactors to donate funds to repair damaged schools and provide essential equipment, school supplies, and necessities to schools in affected areas.

This initiative aims to quickly restore safe school facilities, allowing students to return to their schools.

The organizing committee believes that any support will help ease the hardships faced by the impacted communities and students, enabling them to recover quickly and return to school with renewed hopes for a brighter future.
