QUANG NAM – The “Quang Nam environmental cleanup day” will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020, across the central province of Quang Nam, attracting over 500 people including business employees, citizens and students, as part of the “Saigon Times-Great Circle-Together with Vietnam’s Tourism” program, which aims to promote green tourism and raise public awareness over environmental protection.
Organized by the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Quang Nam Tourism Association, the People’s Committee of Hoi An City and the People’s Committee of Duy Xuyen District (Quang Nam Province), the “Quang Nam environmental cleanup day” will open at 3 p.m. on July 9 at the Thanh Ha pottery village in Hoi An City.
Some 300 people will jointly collect waste along the riverbanks of the pottery village. At the same time, more than 200 people will clean up the environment in Tra Nhieu Hamlet, Duy Vinh Commune, Duy Xuyen District, known as the new eco tourist site.
In addition to the two main activities, the organizers have also called for maintaining a clean environment at units such as the Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort, the area managed by Jack Tran Tours Co., Ltd. in Bay Mau coconut forest, the Impressive Hoi An Cultural Park, the Hoiana Complex, the TUI Blue Resort and the Phu Ninh Dam Tourist Site.
At the Thanh Ha pottery village, there will also be a photo show exhibiting recycled products and recycling models by some units such as the Hoi An Chic Hotel, the Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort, the An Nhien Farm, Heal Organic Farm, The Field, etc.
Vo Phung, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Tourism Association (QTA), said that as part of the Saigon Times Group’s green initiative, QTA is cooperating with local authorities to organize this event to raise awareness over environmental protection at tourist sites. According to Phung, this also aligns with QTA’s long-term goal of limiting plastic waste in the tourism industry.
“The activity is part of a series of tourism programs after Covid-19 in Quang Nam to turn the province into a green tourist destination. It also celebrates the 60th anniversary of Vietnam Tourism Day,” Phung noted.
The “Saigon Times-Great Circle-Together with Vietnam’s Tourism” program kicked off with a beach cleanup campaign on Ke Ga Islet in Ham Thuan Nam District, Binh Thuan Province, on June 14. Recently, the Saigon Times Group handed over 15 signposts, three information boards and a pyramid bearing basic information about Ta Dung National Park to the park’s management board. This was done during a trek held at the park on June 27 and 28 organized by the Saigon Times Group and the management board of Ta Dung National Park and the Dak Nong Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The program will take place in many localities nationwide including Phu Quoc Island, Quy Nhon City, Danang City, Quang Nam Province, Thua Thien Hue Province and Ha Giang Province. It will end in late August 2020.
