HCMC – The HCMC Center for Disease Control and Prevention (HCDC) on December 9 coordinated with the medical center of Binh Thanh District to take samples from 71 people at the Mien Dong Coach Station for Covid-19 testing, following the municipal government’s direction to take random samples from the community, especially in public places.

The 71 people included officers, employees of the Mien Dong Coach Station Company Limited, taxi drivers and drivers of public transport vehicles, the local media reported.

According to the HCMC Department of Health, those who are at high risk of being infected with Covid-19 are critical patients at medical centers, medical workers, sellers at supermarkets and traditional markets, waitpersons at restaurants, drivers of public transport vehicles, laborers at industrial parks and export processing zones and those living in dormitories.

HCDC ordered stronger efforts in the pandemic prevention and control at these locations to easily detect infected cases and trace those in contact with them. The random testing is an essential part of the fight against the pandemic.

On December 12, director of the municipal Department of Health Nguyen Tan Binh asked the department’s professional medical division to focus on Covid-19 prevention and control and strictly control those quarantined at centralized quarantine centers and at home.

In addition, the department asked its subordinates to focus on testing medical workers at hospitals in the city.
