HCMC – Authorities have expedited the approval of sand extraction permits to meet the HCMC Beltway No. 3 project’s demands.

As of mid-August, over 700,000 cubic meters of sand had been delivered. Contractors need an additional one million cubic meters this month to maintain progress.

Additional sand supplies from Ben Tre, Vinh Long, and Tien Giang provinces are expected to arrive in September, with a total of three million cubic meters planned for delivery this year.

The Beltway No. 3 spans over 76 kilometers and costs a total of nearly VND75.4 trillion. The project links HCMC, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Long An provinces, with eight component projects.

The 47-kilometer section in HCMC requires about 7.1 million cubic meters of sand for roadbed construction, which demands over VND22.4 trillion.

The project has launched 14 construction packages, with four main packages reaching 25% completion. Contractors are currently focused on bridge, tunnel, and weak ground stabilization work.

The remaining packages, which began earlier this year, are 9% complete. Contractors are working to complete foundations and continue ground stabilization efforts.
