Saigon J.S. Commercial Bank (SCB) has recently won three awards from prestigious international financial magazines, comprising the “Best Banking Technology Vietnam 2021” award from The European Magazine, the “Best CSR Bank Vietnam 2021” award from International Business Magazine, and the “Best Commercial Bank Vietnam 2021” award from World Finance Magazine.
Such accolades proved trust among enterprises, financial institutions and customers in the bank, since these awards are from globally popular magazines in the fields of banking and finance that provide in-depth journal analysis of financial markets, international trade and the world economy.
These awards also recognized SCB as one of the pioneering retail banks in Vietnam for creativity in its development strategy, bringing about all-round products suitable for diverse needs, as well as focusing on providing services with outstanding quality and investing in modern banking technology.
With a great determination to overcome the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the market, SCB has timely introduced a series of measures during the social distancing period to ensure thoroughly continuous and expeditious banking operations and services. Multiple technology-driven services were beefed up like mobile banking, internet banking, automatic bill payment, online credit card debt payment, online savings, etc. Furthermore, customers can make deposits, trade currencies and perform international payments via emails, saving their time and travel costs, with no worries owing to the secure authentication, confidentiality and speedy process of the system.
With an aim to share the burden with affected customers at the time of the Covid-19 outbreak, the bank has offered many preferential policies by applying softer lending rates from only 6.5% to 6.99% a year for new borrowers; a reduction of 0.5 percentage points for lending rates in the first six months of the lending term; a 50% discount on interbank and interbranch transfer fees on internet banking; and a 10% reduction on charges for international payments, to name but a few.
Keeping aloft the sharing and loving spirit, SCB has over the years promoted the sense of responsibility to the society, helping the disadvantaged and underprivileged. The bank has been an untiring advocator for many charitable activities, engaging in social security programs, such as blood donation, support for poor people and priority families, and student assistance funds, etc. in localities within the bank’s operation network.
In 2021, SCB has hitherto contributed some VND53 billion to Covid-19 prevention campaigns and charitable events, of which VND50 billion was donated to a vaccine fund launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, the bank also donated 20 Covid testing vehicles to the Ministry of Health, 5 vaccination buses to Hai Phong City, and food and medical supplies to many localities across the country.
SCB’s shareholders also contributed VND20 billion to Ho Chi Minh City’s Covid-19 Prevention & Control Fund in response to the movement initiated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC to purchase Covid-19 vaccines.
To support its own employees, SCB imparted welfare policies on internal vaccination, regular rapid testing and workplace disinfection, besides paying visits to console and supply food to the infected employees.
The bank has lately won the title “Best companies to work for in Asia 2021”, an award given by HR Asia, the most well-known publication in Asia for HR professionals, based on findings in an independent survey.
