HCMC – Sembcorp Development Ltd., an affiliate of Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries, has secured an investment certificate for a state-of-the-art hyperscale- and AI-ready data center at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in HCMC.
Developed through StarMason JSC, a joint venture between Sembcorp and local firm BB Holdings, the facility aims to meet Vietnam’s surging demand for cloud computing, AI processing and high-tech workloads.
Spanning 4.5 hectares, the data center is designed for a massive capacity of up to 90MW. The project is engineered to meet the international Tier III standards of Uptime Institute, a bearer for digital infrastructure performance, with a goal of achieving Tier IV -the highest global benchmark for operational reliability.
According to Lee Ark Boon, CEO of Sembcorp Development, this investment is a strategic step into Vietnam’s fast-growing digital economy, fueled by rapid cloud adoption and AI advancement. The project aligns with HCMC’s roadmap to develop a robust digital infrastructure and innovation ecosystem, further cementing SHTP’s status as a leading regional tech hub.
