Singapore’s exports to Vietnam surge 24.7% in Jan-May

HCMC – Vietnam was Singapore’s eighth largest export market in the first five months of 2025, with exports reaching over S$11.7 billion, up 24.7% year-on-year, according to Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Singapore during the period reached over S$16.23 billion, up 28.07% year-on-year. Vietnam sold goods worth nearly S$4.53 billion to Singapore, up 37.7%.

In May alone, total trade between Vietnam and Singapore exceeded S$3.16 billion, up 27.76% compared to the same month in 2024.

Vietnam’s exports to Singapore grew 27.1% to S$869.3 million in May, while imports from Singapore also rose by 28.02% to nearly S$2.3 billion.

Singapore’s export structure to Vietnam shifted notably, with shipments of locally produced goods dropping 15.44% to just over S$509 million. In contrast, re-exports of goods from third countries transiting through Singapore jumped 49.95% to nearly S$1.8 billion, accounting for 78% of total export value.

Machinery, equipment, mobile phones, components, and spare parts were Vietnam’s largest export category to Singapore, with value soaring 94.42%. Meanwhile, exports of reactors, boilers, machine tools, and related parts edged up 1.04%, while glass and glass products, a key export group, fell 12.05%.
