HCMC – The Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Corruption, Wastefulness and Misconduct has decided to place six major cases under its direct oversight, including the Hiup fake-milk scandal at ZHolding.
At its meeting on July 7, the committee agreed to bring six additional cases under its supervision, including:
- A case of alleged bribery and violations of regulations on the management and use of state assets at Viet Trung Mineral and Metallurgy Co., Ltd. and associated entities;
- A case concerning document forgery by organizations, along with bribery and brokerage of bribes, linked to TSL Science Co., Ltd. and related agencies and organizations;
- A case involving serious breaches of accounting regulations and the manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit food products at ZHolding;
- A complex case involving the illegal possession and use of narcotics, organizing drug use, bribery, accepting and brokering bribes, and abuse of power in the performance of official duties, centered around the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry and multiple related units and localities;
- A case showing signs of bribery and acceptance of bribes at the Food Safety Department under the Ministry of Health;
- A case involving suspected document forgery and bribery at Avatek Science and Technology Company.
In the rest of the year, the committee has directed efforts toward finalizing revisions to the Law on Thrift Practice and Wastefulness Combat, the Anti-Corruption Law, and other related legislation.
This includes updating regulations on standards and economic-technical norms that are no longer suitable, ensuring they are consistent, unified, and practical in line with the country’s development needs.
Since the beginning of the year, over 1,770 cases have been initiated, involving more than 4,000 defendants for crimes related to corruption, economic violations, and abuse of official positions.
Specifically, in cases under the direct oversight of the Central Steering Committee, investigation conclusions have been issued for seven cases involving 127 defendants, and indictments have been filed in five cases with 87 defendants.
