HCMC – Six individuals from Saigon Jewelry Company Limited (SJC) and related entities have been prosecuted for making use of gold transactions in which prices were stabilized, falsifying transaction documents, and expropriating assets, said local media reports.
Information about the case at Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) was disclosed by Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, during a regular Government press conference on the afternoon of November 9.
The investigative police agency has filed charges against six individuals for the crimes of embezzlement and abuse of power while performing official duties at SJC and related entities.
The initial investigation results indicate that the accused exploited gold trading for price stabilization, falsified documents and records, and embezzled assets. “The Ministry of Public Security is focusing on gathering evidence, expanding the investigation, and thoroughly recovering the embezzled assets,” he said.
SJC is a State-owned enterprise under the HCMC People’s Committee. It has been the only entity authorized by the State Bank of Vietnam to exclusively produce gold bars since 2014.
