HCMC – Vietnamese entities secured 16 contracts worth around US$286.3 million and established 17 strategic cooperation agreements with international defense firms during the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 in Hanoi.
At a conference to review the expo on December 22, Major General Le Quang Tuyen, deputy head of the General Department of Defense Industry, reported that the department had signed 11 contracts worth US$278.3 million, while the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) concluded five contracts totaling US$8 million.
In addition, 17 strategic cooperation agreements were established with companies from countries and territories with advanced defense industries, including the United States, India, France, and Belgium.
According to the organizers, 1,872 bilateral meetings were arranged for agencies, units, and military enterprises to showcase products and discuss areas of interest.
The Vietnam International Defence Exhibition took place at Gia Lam Airport on the outskirts of Hanoi from December 19 to 22, covering an area of around 100,000 square meters.
The event featured over 440 indoor and outdoor booths, showcasing a diverse array of products such as fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters, drones, naval vessels, artillery systems, radar, firearms, ammunition, and electronic warfare equipment.
More than 240 organizations and companies from Vietnam and 48 other countries were presenting their products and technologies. By noon on December 22, the exhibition had already attracted over 260,000 visitors, including industry professionals and the general public.
