HCMC — Vietnam’s public investment disbursement has lagged behind schedule as several major infrastructure projects have been struggling with long delays caused by unresolved land clearance issues.
The affected projects include the new Duong Bridge in Hanoi City, the upgrade of National Highway 2 between Vinh Yen and Viet Tri in Phu Tho Province, Cam Ly Bridge in Bac Ninh Province, and the upgrade of National Highway 46 from Vinh to Nam Dan in Nghe An Province. Other delayed projects include National Highway 28B in Lam Dong and bridge elevation works on road and railway routes crossing inland waterways in Can Tho City and An Giang Province, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).
The Hanoi–Vinh and Vinh–Nha Trang railway sections, along with parts of the Ho Chi Minh Highway in Tuyen Quang and An Giang provinces, are also behind schedule.
Unfavorable weather, including rain and flooding, has disrupted construction while shortages of construction materials have yet to be resolved. These factors may prevent some projects from meeting their disbursement targets this year.
The Ministry of Construction expects to disburse around 50% of its planned budget by the end of October and about 54% after reallocating unused funds to local authorities.
