HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang has begun extracting sand from the Hau River to supply the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway project.

The sand mine in An Thanh Nhat Commune, Cu Lao Dung District, Soc Trang is being tapped to provide sand for a section of the expressway’s first phase passing through Soc Trang.

Spanning over 100 hectares, the mine has a total permitted extractable volume of over 4.2 million cubic meters of sand.

Hoa Tuan Trading and Service Co., Ltd, the project’s investor, stated that the sand extracted will be transported to the construction site for packages 9 and 10 of the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway.

So far, Soc Trang has put six sand mines into operation to supply material for the expressway, aiming to expedite the progress of key infrastructure projects in the province and the region.

The 188-kilometer Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway requires a total investment of nearly VND 44.7 trillion. It connects National Highway 91 in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province, at its starting point, and ends at Tran De port in Soc Trang Province. The section passing through Soc Trang, designated as the fourth component, is over 56 kilometers long.
