HCMC – Project Management Board 85 under the Ministry of Transport has proposed using soil removed from the process of ground leveling at Long Thanh International Airport project as fill material for the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway.

Project Management Board 85 has sent the proposal to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), which is the investor of the airport project.

The board and contractors would conduct a review on the quality of soil removed from the Long Thanh International Airport project site before the soil is used as fill material for the foundation of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway.

The 53km expressway will connect Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces. The 34km section passing through Dong Nai Province would require nearly 5.7 million cubic meters of soil for filling.

The expressway is designed to have four lanes for vehicles and consists of three components. Component 1 and 3 will be developed by Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces respectively, while Project Management Board 85 is the investor of component 2.

Construction work for the three components began on June 18, and the entire expressway is expected to be opened to traffic by 2026.
