HCMC – As a Covid-19 infection cluster had been detected at the Hop Luc General Hospital in Thanh Hoa Province, the province’s largest private hospital on September 8 worked with competent forces to evacuate some 500 patients, caregivers and medical workers from its area under lockdown to avoid cross infection.
As of September 8, the cluster had detected 30 cases who are patients, caregivers and medical workers, according to the provincial anti-Covid steering committee.
When the lockdown was imposed on the hospital on August 29, over 2,000 people were stuck at the hospital, making it hard to bring the cluster under control.
As such, the provincial government decided to evacuate 500 people from the hospital, the local media reported.
Accordingly, 230 patients and caregivers were transferred to Phu Dong and Phu Hung hotels in Thanh Hoa City for quarantine. These people, including inpatients who recovered from illnesses, have tested negative for Covid twice.
The evacuation will ensure the safety of patients and caregivers before they go home.
Besides, 142 patients receiving treatment at the Oncology Department of the Hop Luc General Hospital were transferred to the Oncology Hospital in the province. They have tested negative for Covid.
The hospital also placed 120 medical workers in some hotels nearby and adopted the “one route-two destination” mode.
Do Thai Hoa, deputy director of the Thanh Hoa Department of Health, said the move was aimed at minimizing cross infection of Covid.
