HCMC – SP Group, the energy supplier from Singapore, has joined forces with HCMC Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) to accelerate awareness and adoption of energy-efficient and sustainable energy solutions.
With the support of the HCMC Electrical Engineering Association, SP Group and EVNHCMC co-organized a seminar on August 3, titled “Designing an Energy-Efficient HCMC,” which focused on innovative solutions to drive the city’s energy efficiency and transition to clean energy.
The event highlighted the importance of collective effort and effective public-private partnerships in achieving Vietnam’s target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Brandon Chia, managing director of Sustainable Energy Solutions for Southeast Asia & Australia at SP Group, expressed enthusiasm for working closely with EVNHCMC and local partners to empower a sustainable future for HCMC and Vietnam.
The group’s goal is to co-create an efficient, reliable, and clean energy ecosystem that will facilitate the transition to a low-carbon future for cities, districts and buildings.
The seminar featured a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Accelerating HCMC’s Sustainable Future,” with panelists including Luan Quoc Hung from EVNHCMC, Nguyen Thanh Phat, managing director of SP Group Vietnam, Nguyen Thanh Trung from the Institute of Energy, and Dao Xuan Duc, president of the HCMC Industrial Zones Businesses Association (HBA).
The discussion explored practical solutions to expedite sustainable energy development within the city while aligning with PDP 8.
Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized the pivotal role of private-public partnerships, exemplified by the collaboration between SP Group and EVNHCMC, in achieving the ambitious targets set forth by Power Development Master Plan VIII.
The seminar reaffirmed SP Group and EVNHCMC’s commitment to a greener future and underscored the importance of effective partnerships and innovative approaches to overcome challenges ahead.
