HCMC – The Saigon Times Foundation (STF), a non-profit organization of the Saigon Times Group, presented the “STF-Pham Phu Thu” scholarships and educational equipment to the Na Ngoi 1 Primary School in the north-central province of Nghe An on November 19.

A total of 99 scholarships worth VND99 million were given to poor students with an excellent academic performance, encouraging them to overcome difficulties and study harder.

The scholarships and educational equipment worth VND31 million were funded by Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, co-founder of the “STF-Pham Phu Thu” scholarship program.

Na Ngoi is a remote commune in Ky Son District, one of the poorest districts in the country. The commune is home to a large number of poor households, and the local students are facing numerous difficulties.

Addressing the scholarship handover ceremony, Vi Thanh Huyen, one of the recipients, said, “We are very happy and thankful today. These scholarships will help us buy school bags, pens, notebooks and new clothes. The scholarships also convey to us the love and encouragement of the sponsors. We will try our best to overcome obstacles and study harder.”

The “STF-Pham Phu Thu” scholarship program was initiated by Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, chairman of GIBC; Nguyen Thanh Sang, chairman of Phuoc Thinh-Palm Garden Resort; and Nguyen Su, former Party secretary of Hoi An City, to help poor students pursue schooling.

Since it was founded in January 2017, the program has given thousands of scholarships to students with disadvantaged backgrounds but an excellent academic performance.
