Storm weakens into tropical depression

Must read

HCMC – Tropical Storm Noul, after making landfall in Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces with strong winds measuring 75-90 kilometers per hour, has weakened into a tropical depression, which is forecast to move westward at 25 kilometers per hour in the next 12 hours, according to the national weather center.

The waters from Quang Binh Province to Quang Ngai Province may continue to witness strong winds at level 6, gusting up to level 8, VnExpress news site reported.

At 10.00 a.m. this morning, after battering Thua Thien-Hue Province, the storm moved to the mainland of Quang Tri Province, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Committee for Search and Rescue of Thua Thien-Hue told Thanh Nien Online.

Many roads in Hue City were hit by uprooted trees caused by the powerful storm, the fifth to hit the country this year, VietnamPlus news site reported.

Strong winds also blew away the roofs of many houses, knocked down several gates of agencies and multiple electricity poles in the city. The city experienced heavy rain this morning, measuring 204 millimeters.

Hoang Van Ha, chairman of Ha Tinh Province, said on September 18 that the storm blew away the roofs of 60 houses in the province and affected large areas of crops.

Facing the same fate, Danang City saw one hectare of vegetables in Cam Le District flooded and many houses inundated due to heavy rains. Several streets in Hai Chau and Son Tra districts were also flooded due to the impact of the storm.
