HCMC – Storm Yinxing entered the northern part of the East Sea early on November 8, with sustained winds reaching level 14 and gusts up to level 17. This is the seventh storm to impact Vietnam this year.

As of 4 a.m. today, the eye of the storm was spotted over the eastern waters of the northern East Sea.

Moving westward at around 15 kilometers per hour, Yinxing is projected to continue this path towards Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands before shifting southwest toward the waters off Central Vietnam, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Vietnam’s meteorological agency predicted that as the storm nears Hoang Sa and central waters, its intensity will begin to diminish. By the time it reaches Vietnam’s central coast, it may weaken to level 8 or downgrade to a tropical depression.

In the next 24 hours, Yinxing is expected to maintain a westward trajectory at 15-20 kilometers per hour. By 4 a.m. on November 9, it is forecast to be around 540 kilometers northeast of Hoang Sa, with intensity levels at 13-14 and gusts up to level 17.

Between 24 and 48 hours, the typhoon is expected to shift west-northwest at 10-15 kilometers per hour and continue weakening as it encounters cold air.

By 4 a.m. on November 10, the storm’s center should be approximately 330 kilometers north-northeast of Hoang Sa, and by 4 a.m. on November 11, about 165 kilometers north, with an intensity of level 11-12 and gusts up to level 14.

In the following 72 to 120 hours, Yinxing is anticipated to move southwest at 10-15 kilometers per hour, approaching the central coastal areas of Vietnam, where it is expected to make landfall with further weakening.
